Thriving Garden Soils
What is this mysterious substance called soil, which we grew up thinking of as mere ‘dirt’? And how do we create rich soils so our plants thrive? Join Adam from Very Edible Gardens for a look at soil under the microscope and get to know the fascinating tiny creatures that inhabit it! You will also learn about the rocks beneath our feet, Melbourne’s amazing geological history which created wildly different soils in different suburbs, and how to deal with them. We’ll also cover pH, clay and sandy soils, dealing with contaminated soils, and the mighty power of compost.
Please note that this is an event for Naarm/Melbourne gardeners only. If you live outside this area, please contact your council to find out what free sustainable gardening events are available locally.
This is an online event hosted via Zoom. You will receive the link for the Zoom event in the confirmation email once you have registered. If you don’t receive an email, try checking your junk folder or email contactus@mysmartgarden.org.au.
